People who f*cked up the name John Wayne

Just a quick post about a thought that occurred to me while surfing the net.

People who f*cked up the name John Wayne.

Yes, that’s right. During a google search of screen legend John Wayne, American icon, and my personal hero, I noticed two names in the list of options google selected to try and preempt my search term – John Wayne Gacy and John Wayne Bobbitt.

Two amoral, sexually-perverted criminals whose life existence was totally f*cked at birth when their parents decided to name them after an unimpeachable American legend whose very name embodies integrity, courage, honesty, respect, heroism, and standing up for what's right.

So now whenever I want to search my hero, I have to see his name linked with these two douche-bags who became infamous in their own right for being complete a-holes.

Here it is in a nutshell:

John Wayne – The Duke
John Wayne Gacy – The Deviant
John Wayne Bobbitt – The Dick

Credits to their name

The Duke

The Original John Wayne
John Wayne was born Marion Robert Morrison on May 26, 1907, in Winterset, Iowa, and nicknamed Duke after the family dog.

He immortalized the name John Wayne with a prestigious film career portraying the iconic American hero: the Cowboy.

He made 37 films in which his character was called John, and Duke was his character name in 6 movies.

Duke was 6'4'' with brown hair and blue eyes and wore a size 11 boot. (*Not relevant, but damn!!!)

Nominated for 2 film awards (The Sands of Iwo Jima and True Grit) but won an Oscar for his role as Rooster Cogburn in True Grit.

"The Greatest Cowboy Star of All Time" was the caption to a series of comic books dedicated to him.

John Wayne died on June 11,1979 at the age of 72.

On June 11,1979, the flame of the Olympic Torch at the L.A. Coliseum was lit to honor his memory.

The airport in Orange County, California was renamed shortly after his death to John Wayne Airport.

The Deviant

Is it any wonder the man turned psycho dressed like a f*ckin' clown?

John Wayne Gacy was a born on St. Patrick’s Day 1942 at Edgewater Hospital in Chicago.

Convicted of the torture, rape and murder of 33 young men between 1972 until his arrest in 1978.

Dubbed the "Killer Clown" because he entertained children at parties as "Pogo The Clown."

Executed by lethal injection on May 10, 1994.

Final words: “Kiss my ass.”

The Dick

I hope this sicko doesn't plan on riding a horse like this.

John Wayne Bobbitt was born March 23, 1967 in Buffalo, New York. His sole claim to fame is the result of having his penis severed by his wife for marital abuse, and subsequently, for popularizing the word "Bobbitized" in the national lexicon.

In 1994, he was convicted of misdemeanor domestic battery against his former fiancée, Kristina Elliott, and sentenced to 15 days in jail.

Sentenced to 5 years’ probation and 100 hours community service in February 1999 for grand larceny of over $140,000 in clothing from a Fallon, Nevada store.

Turned to porn when his band, The Severed Parts, failed to raise enough money for his operation from benefit concerts and non-mass-market CD sales.

Capitalized on his infamous reputation by making two porn films (1994) John Wayne Bobbit: Uncut and (1996) Frankenpenis.

Today's Lesson: John Wayne is the only one of these men to carry the name who became a decent, well-adjusted, and successful human being. Like all great heroes, he was not born to greatness. John Wayne was not born John Wayne. He became John Wayne. Coincidence? I think not. So unless you want your kids to turn out dysfunctional, don't name them John Wayne.

  1. I would add "or lack thereof" in parentheses after John Wayne Bobbitt although, to be fair, it was reattached and (based on his later career) functional.

I didn't know about the band though.

  2. Imagine a movie wherein the Duke meets the Deviant and the Dick. Severed Parts wouldn't be the only thing they would have to worry about. JW will live forever in the hearts and minds of most self respecting Americans for years to come.
